Jason demands total allegiance. He frames the hunt for Eddie not as a murder, but as **Justice.**
He gives Lucas a false choice: "Join us or leave." But leaving means social death. Joining means moral death.
The Trap: Lucas stays because he thinks he can control the mob. He thinks his presence will mitigate the violence.
Lucas is trying to be the "Good One" in a bad system. He wants to be popular *and* good. He wants to wear the jacket but not carry the bat.
But the jacket comes with the bat. You cannot accept the status without accepting the violence that maintains it.
Lucas eventually realizes he is on the wrong side. He abandons the team to warn his friends.
He chooses the **Hellfire Club** (The Outcasts) over the **Tigers** (The Winners). He realizes that it is better to be a freak with a soul than a king with blood on his hands.
